Our location supports our community spirit to shine. Nestled not far from the beautiful Papamoa beach, duck ponds, walking tracks, and with the local community garden just across the road this gives us ample opportunity to get into nature and in touch with our community.

You will often find us at the beach, jumping waves and exploring the dunes.

Inside our environment is setup in a homely way, with ample resources for children to explore and outplay their urges.

Our Tamariki Taiao programme

This programme runs weekly during term time and it is for our ten oldest or most competent children. The meaning of ‘Taiao’ is the natural world that contains and surrounds us — the land, water, climate and living beings. It refers to the interconnection of people and nature. This is exactly the essence of what this programme is.

The purpose of this programme is to build and support the skills that are necessary to support a smooth transition to school, as well as building skills for life. Some of these skills include inner confidence, resilience, self help skills and an understanding that they can make their own decisions and choices.

This programme has termly focuses which come about through observations of children’s interests. In the past this has meant that the focus was on learning about our local legends and area, exploring sea life and learning about Mauao, learning about pests in our forests and how to protect them, to orienteering and scavenger hunts.

Our Tamariki and Kaiako love this time each week and it is something everyone looks forward to.
